Dual quaternion ambisonics array for six-degree-of-freedom acoustic representation

Spatial audio methods are gaining a growing interest due to the spread of immersive experiences and applications, such as virtual augmented reality. For these purposes, 3D signals often acquired through arrays Ambisonics microphones, each comprising four capsules that decompose sound field in spherical harmonics. In this paper, we propose dual quaternion representation spatial an array two First Order (FOA) microphones. The encapsulated leverages algebra properties exploit correlations among them. This with 6 degrees freedom (6DOF) involves more accurate coverage field, resulting precise localization experience. We evaluate our approach on event detection (SELD) benchmark. show SELD model temporal convolution blocks (DualQSELD-TCN) achieves better results respect real quaternion-valued baselines thanks field.
